Collection truck tours make spring cleaning easier

Spring is the perfect time to declutter your home and refresh it for the new season. Recycling is now easier than ever, as collection trucks are once again touring the Helsinki metropolitan area. Many Leona homes are located close to collection points, so make sure to check and save the dates for your nearest stop!

Kierrätyskeskus collection truck

Kierrätyskeskus collection truck will operate from March 30 to May 28 in Helsinki and Vantaa. The truck collects reusable items in good condition free of charge.

What can you bring?

  • Dishes, kitchenware, and home décor
  • Clothes, shoes, and textiles
  • Books, toys, and hobby equipment
  • Tools and gardening supplies
  • Small electronics
  • Bicycles (in any condition)

How to prepare

  • Only bring clean and intact items
  • Pack items in boxes or bags in advance
  • Take larger quantities directly to a store or book a pickup service

Sortti collection truck

The HSY Sortti collection truck operates across the Helsinki metropolitan area and Kirkkonummi from March 30 to June 1. These trucks accept household hazardous waste as well as metal, electrical, and electronic waste free of charge.

What can you bring?

  • Hazardous waste: paints, varnishes, oils, solvents, batteries, pesticides, some cosmetics
  • Metal waste: frying pans, drying racks, metal items
  • Electrical devices: home appliances, small electronics, phones, computers

How to prepare

  • Sort your waste in advance
  • Pack hazardous waste securely and label contents
  • Hand over waste directly to staff
  • Be prepared for a short wait (stops last approx. 30–40 minutes)

Collection trucks offer an easy, free, and environmentally friendly way to give unused items a new life and safely dispose of waste accumulated at home.
